Aiidesh Desk : It is truly heartbreaking about the recent loss of Rajib Gogoi, popularly known as Rajiv Sadiya, a true gem of Assam's music scene. His songs carried the essence of the soil, patriotism, and the profound beauty of life.

This tragic loss struck entire Assam as Rajib Sadiya, a country singer from Sadiya in the Tinsukia district, passed away while he was performing a live performance at Rashabari Parjyaton Mela, the tourism festival site at Duamara on 13th January 2025. Known for his soulful voice and heartfelt renditions that resonated with the heart of the land, his untimely demise has left a deep void in the hearts of many.

Despite immediate efforts to save him by rushing him to a private nursing home in Doomdooma and later to Assam Medical College and Hospital (AMC&H) for better treatment. He succumbed to a massive heart attack on stage, breathing his last at AMC&H on Monday. He leaves behind his wife and a 7-year-old son.

The music Rajib Sandiya nurtured for Assam will undoubtedly leave a lasting legacy. His voice, passion, and raw talent will forever resonate through the timeless melodies he gifted to the community. Losing such a dedicated artist while performing is a poignant reminder of the fragility of life. May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may his legacy continue to inspire generations to come. 

Despite his ongoing financial struggles, Rajib Sandiya (Gogoi) remained unwavering in his dedication to music. Hailing from a very remote part of the state, his work remained largely unnoticed by the mainstream commercial market.

However, the tragic news of his passing, which emerged during the celebration of Bhogali Bihu, a traditional festival of Assam, has brought his talent to light. Music lovers across the state have now come to realize and appreciate the depth of his artistry and the raw beauty of his local music.

The outpouring of love and respect from the people of Assam after his death underscores the connection he forged through his unfiltered, authentic music.
