A proud patch for our patriotic pilots
There is no life perhaps as useful, and as fulfilling as one spent in the service of the nation. While we go on with our mundane lives, earning our day-to-day living, planning for our future, there are some who go much beyond and are endowed with the good fortune of doing something for their country. And while doing that, they do us all proud – especially those who are in some way connected with them, as are we at Yeh Desh. When the five majestic Rafale planes touched down on the soil of our country, there wasn’t one Indian heart that was not full of pride and joy, but most of all, with a sense of security that our country was safe in the hands of the braves who were piloting these awe-inspiring birds. But in a small part of Assam, there was this son of India who felt a quiet pride, a sense of achievement while looking at those pilots. This was Saurav Chordia, a son of the soil of the beautiful state of Assam. He felt honoured, and happy, because the patches on the uniforms of the pilots were designed by him. Yeh Desh spoke exclusively to Saurav, and found out that this young man did not believe in talking too much about himself. He is quiet, unassuming and understated in his achievements. Saurav is a political science graduate and is currently working as a 3D Designer in a gaming firm. What is remarkable is that he got this job with the help of skills that he taught himself. Patches, also known as insignia, have been around for a log time, adorning uniforms and adding to their attraction. Saurav believes that their purpose is not just decorative; they act as morale boosters and reflect the professional pride of our soldiers who don those uniforms. And we agree with him. We wanted to know what exactly Saurav's feelings were when his designs were approved and when he saw the pilots with those patches on their uniform. Saurav says he was speechless. He was overwhelmed that he was able to somehow contribute in his own small way to our armed forces. When we asked Saurav about his plans for the future, he told us that apart from several other dreams, he had one of becoming a pilot. He wishes to hold a flying license and attend air shows. He also wants to travel the world and explore foreign countries. And most importantly, this son of Assam wants to get many more opportunities to render his services to the nation. And we wish to tell him that not only in Assam, but in any part of India, whoever sees the patches on the uniforms of Rafale pilots will be proud of Saurav Chordia.
