Awareness program on the conservation of Bengal Florican at Japoripathar High School in Bokakhat Co-district.

A special awareness program on the Bengal Florican species was organized on May 18 at Japoripathar High School in Japoripathar, Bokakhat Co-district, under the initiative of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, with the cooperation of Japuripathar High School. The program was conducted by the Wildlife Institute of India, Dehradun.
The event was attended by the headmaster of Japoripathar High School, Dipen Handique, along with teachers and students of classes VII and VIII. Researcher Saurav Das from the Wildlife Institute of India gave an illustrated presentation on the endangered Bengal Florican species, its population, habitat, food habits, and conservation efforts. Environmental activist Uttam Saikia discussed in detail with the students about the Bengal Florican habitat and conservation in the Brahmaputra Valley and Kaziranga National Park.
The program also featured a documentary screening on the Bengal Florican and a question-and-answer session. Saurav Das informed that after conducting such awareness campaigns in different places, a survey will also be carried out in the Brahmaputra Valley to study the habitat and population of the Bengal Florican.
